SRINAGAR: Three unidentified militants were killed on Thursday when they reportedly fired upon security forces at a check point in Tral area of south Kashmir.
A police spokesman said a joint patrol party was fired upon by militants at Aab-Ghar Tral. The party retaliated the fire and in the ensuing encounter three unidentified militants have been killed.
The identity of the killed militants is being ascertained. One SLR, one carbine, one pistol, grenades and other ammunition have been recovered from the slain militants, he claimed.
According to the KNS in view of the forth coming assembly elections, security forces had created a check point at South Kashmirs Tral area. Reports informed that the encounter took place 6:40 in the evening.
Sources informed that the bodies of the three slain suspected militants have been kept at the Police Station Tral.
