Sonawari, CNS: Taking a dig on the party leadership, National Conference MLC and party candidate for Bijbehara constituency Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri Monday said despite repeated pleas from workers, the party awarded mandate to belligerent Dr Mehoob Beigh. He said that the party leadership preferred the personality and stature of Mehboob Beigh and did not take the requests of the workers into account.
Addressing a press conference at district Party headquarters in Khanabal, Islamabad, Veeri admitted that the departure of Beigh invited a lot of embarrassment for the party. He however, quickly added that Dr Mehboob Beigh was a dead wood who has already lost his credibility in South Kashmir.
When Beigh lost Parliament election, the NC workers from South Kashmir approached party leadership and requested it not award Assembly mandate to him. Party leadership did not listen to us and committed a blunder, Veeri said adding that Mehboob Beigh was a liability for the party.
