Mirwaiz to Protest Outside UN Office

SRINAGAR: Condemning the killing of youth in firing in Kulgam, Hurriyat Conference (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said Hurriyat leaders and activists would hold a protest outside the United Nations Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) office in Srinagar on Saturday.

He said that in less than two weeks ‘we have witnessed the brutal killing of three young boys by the Indian forces.’

“These armed forces operating in a climate of impunity have become reckless and are on a killing spree, while we remain helpless. Repeatedly, the state forces get away with these murderous acts while the authorities announce customary investigations which are an eye wash," he said.

He regretted the complete apathy of the Indian civil society and the International community towards these recurrent killings of innocent civilians.

“Hurriyat leaders and activists will assemble tomorrow 15th November 2014, at the UNMOGIP at 2 PM and hold a sit-in protest to bring into focus these killings and to demand from the international community to take cognizance of these killings and pressurize India to put an end to these barbaric acts which have become the order of the day,” he said.
