Hyderabad: Cloud burst over Hyderabad resulting 7 cms of rains in just one hour last night brought Hyderabad city to a grinding halt as the northeast monsoon became vigorous over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana resulting widespread rains.
A 26-year-old woman died after being washed away in an open drain in Uppal area of Hyderabad as heavy downpour turned the city roads in to the lakes and water entered many low lying areas of the city.
Satyavati was returning home along with other family members after attending a function in the evening. The city police has booked a case against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on the complaints of Satyavatis family. Relatives of the victims alleged grave negligence on the part of authorities which led to the tragedy.
The sudden downpour caught people unawares as overflowing and choked drains brought the city to a grinding halt. Disruption in power supply added to the woes of citizens.
