NEW DELHI: Prices of diesel and petrol are likely to be cheaper by Rs. 1 before polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkand, sources here said. The crude oil prices have reduced to below $80 per barrel in the international market, which has forced the oil companies to pass it on to the consumer when its officials will meet for the review.
It will be the seventh consecutive reduction in petrol prices since August and the third cut in diesel rates. In October, the Oil companies had announced petrol price cut by Rs 2.41 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre. On the other hand, the cooking gas (LPG) rates were hiked by Rs 3 per cylinder after the government had raised the commission paid to dealer.
