BJP Candidate Takes Shelter in Police Station

Kulgam:  A BJP candidate took shelter in a police station after unidentified gunmen stormed his home in Bogund late Tuesday night.

The son of the BJP candidate Ghulam Hasan Zargar told CNS that his father managed to hide himself in one of the dark corners of the house that saved his life.

“The gunmen were four in number. Two of them entered into our house while rest of them took position on the gate. They were looking for my father and after not finding him in the room, they thrashed a worker mercilessly,” he said adding that before leaving the house they threatened us of dire consequences and said that they will kill Zargar today or tomorrow.

The son of the BJP candidate added that the gunmen fired two shots in air before fleeing from the spot. “My father spent the night in police station and we are anxious about his security,” he said.

Meanwhile a police official said that the security of the BJP candidate has been tightened and he is now safe and secure.
