Jethmalani’s ‘Mission Kashmir’ Begins On Nov 6

SRINAGAR: Ahead of the Assembly elections, chairman of Kashmir Committee and track-II diplomat Ram Jetmalani is arriving here on a two day Kashmir visit on November 6 to hold meetings with various separatist and mainstream parties.

Sources said that Jetmalani’s is holding series of meetings with various separatist groups here. “He is also likely to hold interactions with various youth here in a bid to know the exact situation on ground,” they said.

Sources privy to Jetmalani’s Valley programme said that ahead of the formation of the new government in the state, his visit would be the part of the exercise wherein talks with the various political parties could be held.

During NDA’s first term, the Kashmir Committee headed by Jethmalani played an active role in paving the way for series of parleys between then Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and moderate Hurriyat leadership.

Jethmalani was in Srinagar in August this year to attend a one-day conference organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Peace Foundation. The Conference was held at Sheri Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).

Earlier he also met several separatist leaders including Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani’s Hyderpora residence. (KNS)
