SRINAGAR: With the announcement of five phase poll schedule for 87 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the political parties have started chalking out their strategies to woo voters, while some of them are trying to make the recent devastating flood, a poll issue.
However, there will be no polls for 21 seats reserved for the people of Pakistan controlled Kashmir (PcK).
Jammu and Kashmir is the only state in the country, which has six year Assembly term.
The ruling National Conference (NC) has 28 members in the present Assembly and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 19 members after two other members-party president Mehbooba Mufti and Muzaffar Hussain Baig were elected to Lok Sabha from Anantnag and Baramulla constituencies, respectively.
However, another ruling alliance in the coalition government Congress which has 17 members in the House, is yet to announce candidates.
BJP, which has 11 members, too has to announce the candidates.
The 10 other members include from National Panther Party, Communist Party of India (M) PDF and Natinalist Democratic Party (NDP), besides Independent candidates.
