NEW DELHI: The Indian Doctors For Peace and Development (IDPD) and Pakistan Doctors For Peace and Development (PDPD) in a joint statement expressed serious concern over the ongoing firing on the Indo-Pak border which has lead to several casualties.
A press note issued by the organisation stated there is danger that this could escalate into a larger conflict and threaten peace and development in the region.
We are poor nations and hence only peaceful coexistence will help both the countries to prosper. This is even more important particularly in the wake of the recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir which lead to unprecedented devastation , stated Dr LS Chawla, president of IDPD and Dr Tipu Sultan, president of Pakistan Doctors For Peace and Development (PDPD).
Others members including Dr LS Chawla, Dr Tipu Sultan, Dr Surinder Singh Soodan, Dr GM Malik, Dr NS Bawa, Dr Arun Mitra and Dr Bharti Uppal have appealed to the governments to hold dialogue at the earliest in this regard.
