Srinagar: In a joint operation of police and army, huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered in Villgam area of Handwara in north Kashmirs Kupwara district last evening, police said.
A police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said: Acting on specific information, Handwara police and 6 Rashtriya Rifles of army launched search operation at Einch Hafrada Forests in Villgam area of District Handwara last evening.
During the search operation a hideout was busted, he said.
The recoveries, he said, include: 01 Pika, 03 AK 47 rifles, 03 AK 56 rifles, 01 Pistol, 18 RPG Booster, 01Anti Aircraft Gun stand, 06 RPG rounds, 10 RC IED, 08 AK Magazines, 13 Hand Grenade, 38 UBGL Grenade, 01 RPG Booster Mark II, 01 Wireless set ICON, 02 Wireless Antenna, 01 Map, 01 Compass, 838 AK rounds, 39 Detonators and 01 pouch.
Police said the recoveries mark a big blow to the militants.
