SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house detention and he was today third time in this holy month denied to offer the Friday congregational prayers.
According to a statement, Friday was the 14th episode in 2014 when Geelani was stopped by the police to perform his religious duties.
Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Geelani’s confidant and senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was also put under house arrest and Mir Hafizullah was arrested from his home and detained in Anantnag police station and both the leaders were not allowed to offer the Friday prayers.
In a statement issued to the press, Hurriyat spokesman said that additional police force was deployed outside the Hyderpora residence of Geelani and on the airport road leading to his residence, who were keenly observing the visitors.
