There was eerie silence all around, the world had either gone silent or she had gone deaf. It was exceptionally hot too and sweat was trickling down her face. What did all this mean? Why did she end up here of all places? She kept asking herself. After all it was just an exam.
But was it? Her entire carrier was dependent on it and more than that it would judge what she her ranking would be among her relations and there she was- all blank!
All students around her were writing away as she looked around. Then she looked at her own hands; they were shaking. She could see the tip of her pen vibrating in her hand, she could feel heart throbbing against her chest too. Fear was a feeling so prominent that the world became a blurred picture.
It is not that she hadnt worked hard. She had spent all her waking hours obsessing about the exams. Tuitions centers and school were the only two places she had visited for two whole years. But all seemed useless now and every question difficult. She wanted to cry but tears were a normal response and normal response was the most difficult thing for her.
She had always been a bright student, going along very well until dead block came when she was asked to appear for the medical entrance test. Pressure came from all sides in form of cruel expectations and dismal criticisms, which she never learnt to deal with. It was not that she did not want to be a doctor; all her life she had dreamt of being one. Despite this she failed.
The reason for her failure was fear. And the people who loved her the most introduced this fear in her unknowing. They made her believe that CET is the end of the world, and thus making her see the world only in terms of an exam. This girl is a representative of the life of so many students.
In India there is no such thing as a fair competition, it is a riot- a stampede for the limited number of seats. So no matter how good you are, you can fail as easily as anyone else. This is not because your competitors are better; it is just that there are so many candidates that the probability of making it into the merit list is decreased significantly.
But people do not understand this and keep trying to inspire their loved ones ending up only in causing endless fear. This fear stops the students from succeeding and living. It takes away their birth right to be happy.
Moreover life doesnt end at anything; there are many prospects, many professions to try your hand at. The world is full of opportunities for those who seek them. So no matter what the results are, seek joy in the fact that you tried your best.
