SRINAGAR: Without any direct reference to the Prime Minister Narindera Modi, Syed Ali Geelani, Chairman of Hurriyat G, Wednesday recalled former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Insaniyat model for Kashmir resolution, saying that New Delhi is yet to fulfill the promise of “resolution within the ambit of humanity.”
“With the right to protection of life, property and honor, the right of self determination is an important right. To snatch this right from any person is a grave violation of human rights,” a statement of Hurriyat G, quoting Geelani as said during a blood donation camp. “The former Prime Minister of India Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee had promised to solve the Kashmir Issue on humanitarian grounds but neither was it fulfilled nor the atrocities against the people of Kashmir ended,” the statement said while detailing about the setting up of Syed Ali Geelani Blood Bank by the octogenarian leader’s Tehereek-e-Hurriyat party.
“Kashmir is neither any communal issue nor do we have any enmity with the India or its people. To respect humanity is a vital part of our religion and we treat everybody irrespective of his religion as our brother in human relation,” Geelani said in the statement adding that the life of a human was the most respectable thing in front of us and “we believe that to kill any innocent person is equal to killing of whole humanity.”
Geelani, according to the statement, said that with the international dispute of Kashmir was a human issue and due to its lingering nature millions were suffering . “We want that the Indian rulers should also look at this issue with a human eye and they should help the people of Kashmir in obtaining their birth and basic right.” While referring to the former Prime Minister of India Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Hurriyat G leader said, “He was the first Prime Minister of India who talked of the resolution of Kashmir within the ambit of humanity. But till now it was never implemented on the ground. Even today India wants to suppress the genuine voice of Kashmiris with its military might and the worst kind of atrocities are unlashed upon them.” Indian rulers, Geelani says, have made it an issue of ego and they are turning away their faces from the live and solid reality of Kashmir.
While explaining the objectives and need of setting up of Syed Ali Geelani Blood Bank Geelani said he had been pursing for long a policy under the banner of Mili Trust Jammu & Kashmir so that this institution will serve the people at every level. While appealing well-to-do sections of Kashmiri society, Geelani said, “This work is not possible without the support of people and we hope that the nation will not disappoint us in this respect.” Meanwhile the Hurriyat spokesman said that today huneds of youth came to donate their blood at Hyderpora but the hospital having limited capacity could only accommodate 70-72 blood points. Those youth who could not donate their blood returned disappointed but they were assured that after the Eid-ul-Fiter, we are going to organize a mega blood donation camp in which these youths will be given priority.
