SRINAGAR: Prof. Khodjamakhmad Umarov, Head, Department of Macroeconomic Studies, Institute of Economic Studies, Ministry of Economy of Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, delivered two extension lectures on important emerging issues in Central Asia in Kashmir University.
Director of Centre, Prof. G. N. Khaki welcomed Umarov to university. The lectures were attended by a galaxy of scholars including faculty members, research scholars of the Centre as well as other allied departments. The speaker highlighted the on-going economic reforms and management of regional economic resources. He said that for balanced development of the countries of the region, cooperation and integration at regional and continental level is inevitable.
Regarding economic reform, he said that the current model of sustainable development needs certain corrections. The lecture was followed by question answer session which was concluded by the Chairman of the session, Prof. G. M. Mir, Director Area Study Centre. The programme was coordinated by Dr. M. Afzal Mir.
