Farooq wants amnesty for stone pelters

SRINAGAR: Following his life’s only landmark defeat in the recently held parliament poll, Chief of the ruling National Conference Farooq Abdullah has advocated “some sort of general amnesty” to the youth allegedly involved in stone pelting incidents.

“I have met with some youth who are involved in  stone pelting and I feel that some sort of amnesty should be given to them,” Farooq told reporters soon after his party met over a review session at the NC headquarters, Nawa-e-Subuh here on Thursday.

Earlier, while addressing the party youth wing leaders including district presidents, block presidents and district secretaries, Farooq Abdullah said that NC has a history of rendering sacrifices for the people of this State and the party was sole guardian of the people’s rights.

NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani and National Conference youth president Salman Ali Sagar were also present there.

Farooq Abdullah said that National Conference had a history of rendering sacrifices for the people of this State and the identity of a nation was its most valuable asset.
