Jha’s twist to Tosamaidan sparks protests

Srinagar: Days after eminent columnist Prem Shankar Jha claimed in his article, ‘Tosa Maidan – A Ticking Time Bomb In Kashmir’ that the sarpanch of Drang and a founder member of the Tosamidan Bachavo Front (TBF), told him repeatedly during his closed door meeting in the area that they did not want the army to leave the area, scores of people from the adjoining villages of Tosamaidan firing range while refuting these allegations staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar on Tuesday.

The protestors while terming the claims made by Jha as baseless and fabricated said that the author has tried to mislead the people of Kashmir and under army cover and to appease his bosses he has come up with a concocted tale.

The Sarpanch of Drang said that he never met a man by this name. “He has uttered rubbish in his article and all his claims are false,” Masroor Ahmed said. Other leaders spearheading Tosamaidan Bachavo Movement alleged that Jha had come up with the slandering article just to enjoy the cozy company of Army in Kashmir.

Pertnently, Prem Shankar Jha in his article has stated, “that contrast, between public harangue and private entreaty, summed up the tragedy of Kashmir.”

When contacted Prem Shankar Jha said that he is in Meerut and don’t want to discuss on the issue.
