Srinagar bound bus falls in gorge, 17 killed

SRINAGAR: At least seventeen people were killed and 27 injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge on  Jammu-Srinagar highway near Ramban Tuesday morning, reports reaching here said. 

The accident occurred when the bus driver lost control at Digdol in Ramban district, 170 km from Jammu. 

“Bodies of seventeen passengers have been recovered, while 27 injured were rushed to hospitals,” the official said, adding the seriously injured were being air-lifted to Jammu. 

Most of the passengers in the bus were youth going to the Kashmir valley from Poonch and Rajouri districts for a recruitment rally. A few other passengers were from Gujarat.
