Srinagar: India’s glamworld has extended fervent appeals to Kashmiris, dissuading people here from voting BJP and asking them to vote for the secular parties (read Congress). “More than twenty prominent film and music personalities as well as some noted human rights activists and journalists have appealed to the voters to elect a secular party in the Lok Sabha election,” Indian media reported Thursday.
Noted among them are Govind Nihalani, Vishal Bhardwaj, Imtiaz Ali, Shubha Mudgal, Swara Bhaskar et al .They have signed an open letter urging the voters to vote for the secular party, which is most likely to win in your constituency. The glitterati has written an open letter to the voters in Jammu and Kashmir.
Terming the cultural diversity and pluralism as the “best thing of our country”, the letter reads, “The co-existence of a number of religions and ethnicities over centuries, and hence the blooming of multiple streams of intellectual and artistic thought.”
“As Indian citizens who love our motherland, we appeal to you to vote for the secular party, which is most likely to win in your constituency,” the letter adds.
