SRINAGAR: After Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit extended invitation to Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani to visit Pakistan, the senior separatist leader on Saturday expressed willingness to visit the country provided government of India issued him the travel documents.
Geelani turned emotional when he was invited to Pakistan on April 3 by Basit and he readily accepted the invite, said Huriyat Conference (G) chief spokesman Ayaz Akbar.
While expressing his interest to visit Pakistan Geelani sahib told Abdul Basit that he wanted to make people of Pakistan aware about Kashmirs present situation. Geelani also wants 18 crore people in Pakistan to be informed about the present political issues and concerns of Kashmiris. The Hurriyat (G) spokesman however said that the travel documents of Geelani are not being issued since long and if the same are given, the Huriyat (G) chairman will visit Pakistan in near future.
Pertinently earlier Geelani had declined an invitation extended to the both factions of the Hurriyat Conference by the then foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar during PPP govt in Islamabad.
