Non-availability of gas cylinders spark protest in Omar Abad
SRINAGAR: Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department has miserably failed to make the supply of ration for the month of March available at ration depots in different parts of Kupwara district.
The constant delay by the department to supply ration has left people fuming. People said that there is total scarcity of ration in Kupwara district. They alleged that ration is being sold out in black.
Assistant Director CA&PD Kupwara said that he will probe the allegations levelled by people that some CA&PD employees are making people suffer by selling the ration in black.
CA&PD Minister Choudhry Muhammad Ramzan admitted that there is scarcity of ration in Kupwara as according to him the department did not receive the additional quota from the government of India.
Meanwhile, the residents of Omar Abad HMT in Srinagar area Monday staged a protest against the non-availability of domestic gas. They alleged that CA&PD department has failed to take any action against the gas dealers who take the customers for a ride.
The truck carrying gas cylinders for Omar Abad HMT was unloaded by the gas dealer at Qamarwari for the reasons better known to him and as a result we did not get our quota for the month, one of residents Javid Ahmed Bhat said.
Director CA&PD, Bashir Ahmed Khan told CNS that that Department is not going to spare those element who take common people for a ride. I will ensure that these people get the gas cylinders in time, he said.
