SRINAGAR: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of police have arrested three persons, including two brothers, for allegedly floating rumours in Lolab Valley about seven militants killed by army as being civilians.
Imam Ghulam Rasool Lone and two brothers Saqib Lone and Bilal Lone sons of Ghulam Hassan Lone, a rehbar-e-taleem (ReT) teacher posted at Khurhama, all the residents of Affan, Lolab were picked up by the SOG teams from their respective houses on Wednesday night. The duo has been taken to the joint interrogation centre (JIC) Kupwara, where senior police officials on Thursday grilled them for several hours.
The duo, sources said, were picked up for spreading rumours that the seven militants killing by army in Dardpora forests on Monday, were civilians. The rumors, police said triggered violent protests leading to injuries to over a dozen people, including senior CRPF and police officers.
Meanwhile, at least ten youth from Main Town were taken into preventive custody by police following anti-India protests on Wednesday. (GNS)
