SRINAGAR: The landslides and the shooting stones on Srinagar-Jammu highway Sunday evening caused a nasty traffic jam stranding motorists and commuters for at least 12 hours.
Traffic was restored only a day after late in the evening on Monday, police sources said.
Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on the highway overnight after the landslides and shooting stones hit the road near Battery Chashma, Banihal, reports said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) traffic National Highway Haseeb Mughal said that the vehicles have been allowed towards Jammu after a brief halt in the shooting stones and landslides.
We are trying our best to keep the traffic going but the shooting stones remains the cause of worry.
He stated that the traffic has been restored to Srinagar and that it could be stopped anytime further if the landslides occur again.
