Govt harassing Kashmiri traders at Lakhanpur check post

Srinagar:  Kashmir Traders Federation Friday alleged that government is harassing the Kashmiri businessmen dealing with imports at Lakhanpur Checkpost.

Kashmir Traders Federation president Haji Jan Muhammad Koul told CNS that the ‘autocratic’ officers have no sympathy with the traders of Kashmir and they fine the traders without any reason on the pretext of physical verification.“ In order to achieve its target, officers are imposing fine on traders to achieve the target set for them by the government,” he said adding that  It is a conspiracy to weaken the economy of valley.

Koul said that they are surprised over the statement of the Finance Minister that 12 thousand crore of outstanding of tax is with the traders of valley, although they have already paid the 90 percent of it.

He also expressed concern over the rent hike by SMC authorities to the traders who have their business establishments in buildings owned by Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
