JAMMU: Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today told assembly that a special police team has been dispatched to Punjab to investigate the mysterious death of a student from Doda there.
B-Tech Student Meraj Khalid Mintoo studying in Riyat Bara College of Engineering and Technology, Hoshiarpur, Punjab was found dead in mysterious circumstances there recently.
Minister said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the police department has deputed a special team, headed by SP, Abdul Rauf to coordinate with the Punjab Police for speedy investigation of the case.
Family members of the deceased are also accompanying the special team, he added.
The Minister further informed that Principal Secretary Home has also separately taken up the matter with the Financial Commissioner Home Affairs, Punjab Government and requested him for constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) so that fair and speedy investigation is carried out. The matter is being pursued vigorously with the authorities of Punjab at the highest level, he said.
