Rapist Escapes from Police Custody

SRINAGAR: A man accused of abduction and rape, gave police a slip when he was being taken to a local court in Bandipore Monday.

Official sources said that Sajad Ahmad Ganai, who is facing charges of abduction and rape, managed to escape from Sumbal court, where he was brought by the police for hearing. The accused told the cops that he wants to attend nature’s call and they removed his hand cuffs. Taking advantage the accused gave them a slip. The dramatic escape has left the cops red faced.

Ganai, a resident of Vijbara, Hajin was arrested on February 2 after a girl alleged him of abduction and rape. Police has already registered a case ( 4/2014) under sections 363 (kidnapping), 367 (rape) again him at the Police station, Hajin.
