No irregular power supply in JK: PDD

JAMMU: An official spokesperson of Power Development Department has denied the widespread allegations of irregular power supply in the state.

In a statement the official said that there has been marked improvement in the power scenario with the consumers being provided with 10pc more power supply than the last year and the government has taken every possible measure to augment the same by ensuring that transmission and distribution losses are minimized.

The spokesman added that the power supply has shown a marked improvement in the Kashmir division during the winters and all possible steps have been taken to provide uninterrupted supply during summers in the Jammu division.

The transformer damage rate has been brought down considerably to 25pc from the last yearÂ’s 36pc and effective measures are been taken to reduce power pilferage, the spokesman added. He also maintained that the department has made efforts to ensure early replacement of the damaged transformers to minimize inconvenience to the consumers and in this regard strict instructions have been passed to the concerned to ensure that these replaced are made within the shortest possible time.
