NC Says Jammu has not got lion’s share

SRINAGAR: Taking a strong exception to the reports that Jammu has got a lion’s share in new administrative units approved by the state cabinet, National Conference (NC) Sunday said that the justice has been done to all the regions.

“How can we say that Kashmir has been ignored and Jammu has been given the preference. We need to rise above from the statements of absurdity,” said Mustafa Kamal additional general secretary NC.

He stated further that Kashmir province has got its due share and that no injustice has been done on the regional grounds. Kamal added further that the main purpose of the creation of new administrative units was to ease out the work load from earlier units of the state. “When you claim that injustice has been done to Kashmir, please see how many units were already present here and how many were in Jammu region.”

Kamal said that the dissemination of the administrative units in the state has been done on the topographical and climatic grounds. “When we make the total of the all the new and the old administrative units in the state, then only we can say that how far justice has been done.”

Pertinently, according to reports, the cabinet has given nod to creation of 26 new sub divisions in Jammu division, in Kashmir only 16 would be created.

In Jammu 73 new tehsils will be formed according to the cabinet decision while in Kashmir the number of new tehsils to be formed in only 54. The reports maintained further that out of 177 , 84 community development blocks will be formed in Jammu and 79 in Kashmir region including Ladakh.
