Swiss national dies in Gulmarg Avalanche

SRINAGAR: A swiss tourist was killed after coming under an avalanche in Kangdoori area in the ski-resort of Gulmarg.  

Police said that two other persons were rescued alive and identified the dead tourist as Aron Roiyer from Switzerland. 

Reports said three tourists came under an avalanche at Hapath Khod area of Afarwat in higher reaches of Gulmarag.  A police official said that the trio had gone for skiing in the area ignoring an avalanche warning.  

Divisional Commissioner Shailender Kumar appointed District Magistrate, Baramulla as enquiry officer to ascertain the cause of death of the tourist. The District Magistrate, Baramulla has been asked to complete the enquiry and submit the report within 5 days to the government.

Meanwhile, Medico Legal formalities of the deceased are being completed and the Swiss embassy has been informed about the unfortunate incident, an official said.
