5 houses collapse due to heavy snowfall

SRINAGAR: Three people, including siblings were injured Wednesday as five residential houses collapsed in several area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag due to heavy snowfall.

10-year-old Mohsin and his four-year-old sister Sabina, children of Mohammad Yaqoob Dar of Arwani were injured when their residential house collapsed due to heavy snowfall, official sources said Wednesday.

Four more residential houses belonging to Ghulam Rasool Wani, Abdul Rashid Ahangar of Dhamal Khushipora,Ghulam Hassan Khanday and Mohammad Abdullah of Hillar Kokernag also collapsed due to heavy snowfall. One person was injured in the incident of house collapse in Abdullah’s house collapse.

Due to slippery roads, vehicles could not ply smoothly and dozens of vehicles met accidents resulting in the injuries to scores of people. 

At Panta Chowk a Sumo taxi turned turtle resulting in the injuries to 6 passengers.
