Search operation continues in Tral

SRINAGAR:  Army and police Tuesday continued search operation in Dadsaran area of Tral, where a foreign militant was killed in an encounter on Monday evening.

Sources said that army’s 3 RR and SOG of police today carried out intense searches in Mir Mohalla and its adjoining villages in Dadsar, Awantipora to locate at least two militants, who managed to give slip to the army on Monday evening after their associate was killed in a brief gun-battle. Police has claimed that one AK 47 rifle, 5 magazines, 202 rounds, 02 grenades, 1 army uniform and a wireless antenna was recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, a defence ministry official identified the slain militant as Raja Muzaffar of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) from Muzaffarabad, Pakistan administered Kashmir (PcK). Muzaffar, the official said, had recently sneaked into the Valley.

“We had cordoned off the area last evening after receiving a tip off about the presence of 3 militants in the area. While, one has been killed, two are still at large. Searches are in progress to nab them,” the official added.
