SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Wednesday during a protest sit in demanded the release of political prisoners lodged in various jails including senior separatist leader Dr. Qasim Faktoo.
According to reports, JKLF held a protest sit-in at Partap-Park Lal Chowk in solidarity with the prisoners of Jammu Kashmir. The sit in was led by JKLF zonal president leader Noor Mohammed Kalwal and was attended by hundreds of JKLF leaders and activists.
The reports stated that the protestors raised slogans in favor of prisoners and held banners and placards bearing slogans against the atrocities committed against the prisoners of Jammu Kashmir languishing in jails all over India.
Kalwal while speaking to the media said , todays sit in is intended to raise our peaceful voices against the atrocities committed against kashmiri prisoners across Indian jails.
He said that today our brothers in jails are today suffering from various ailments, JKLF leader Sheikh Nazir Ahmad and Muslim league leader Doctor Qasim Faktoo are seriously ill. Two of our young boys sheikh Farhat and sheikh Imran languishing in Calcutta jail serving life imprisonment are on hunger strike from last many days, JKLF leader Zahoor Ahmad Bhat was attacked and injured inside Hiranagar jail. The relatives coming to meet their jailed kith and kin at Srinagar central jail are being humiliated, reads the statement.
