Bitta Karate Joins Hurriyat (JK)

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir has called for a complete shutdown on January 26 that marks the republic day of India.

“We don’t acknowledge January 26 as our republic day as India has occupied our state by force in 1947 and we have been running a resistance movement against Indian occupation since then,” Hurriyat (JK) faction leader Shabbir Shah said in a statement issued after a meeting at his residence here today.

The meeting was attended by National Front chief, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mahaz-e-Azadi president, Muhammad Iqbal and Islamic Political Party Chairman, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash. Muslim Conference Chairman, Shabir Ahmad Dar. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R), chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar (Bita Karate) also participated in the meeting.

Terming the participation of JKLF (R) chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar  a welcome step, the meeting vowed that party is in process of decision making about his participation in Hurriyat.

During the meeting, present political situation was thoroughly discussed and it was held that despite atrocities leashed on Kashmiri people by occupational forces by slapping harsh laws and frequent arrests, Kashmiris are filled with the spirit of freedom.

“It is also our responsibility to foster ideological unity in achieving our goal of freedom and we will sincerely take our mission to its logical conclusion,” the meeting vowed.
