SRINAGAR: After a days closure, the crucial Jammu-Srinagar highway was reopened for vehicular traffic on Thursday clearing about 500 vehicles that were stranded on the highway since Wednesday.
Official sources said that 300-km long Srinagar-Jammu highway was thrown open for vehicular traffic after the BEACON pressed into service its men and machinery to clear the snow from various places in and around the Banihal Tunnel. The highway was reopened for traffic around 2:00 pm and over 400 vehicles enroute to Jammu were cleared.
