Anantnag: Reckless driving of a Sumo driver claimed the life of a 27 year old youth in Anantnag town.
Police sources said that a speedy Sumo (JK03A-6750) driven by one Muhammad Ashraf Nanda of Khanabal hit a pedestrian Irfan Ahmed Gandoo son of Muhammad Shafi resident of Nai Basti Anantnag at busy K.P road. Police said that the Sumo driver managed to flee from the spot after hitting Irfan.
Irfan was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar where he breathed his last. Police has registered an FIR vide 1/2014 under section 304A against the absconding accused.
Meanwhile, a Tata Sumo bearing (JK03C-8216) driven by Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani resident of Deethu Nagrain, Anantnag and Maruti Car (JK03C-3311) driven by Abdul Rashid Mir son of Haji Ali Muhammad resident of Dardsun Kralpora, Kupwara collided at Lower Monda, Qazigund.
The collision resulting in injuries to Maruti driver and his two daughters Saima Rashid and Rabia Rashid. All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Qazigund where Maruti driver Abdul Rashid succumbed o his injuries.
