The Huriyat Conference (G) led by Syed Ali Gelani while castigating Azad, termed his statement a ‘blatant lie’. ”We are not divided, neither we are fragmented. There could be the difference of opinion but on one point we are one that we have to get India out of this country,” said Huriyat (G) Chief spokesman Ayaz Akbar, adding that the pro-establishment parties are the ‘stooges’ of oppression and that they have no right t comment about the just movement.

Huriyat (G) remarked further that the the Pro-Indian parties have got the limited mandate of drains and roads and they must not poke their heads into the bigger issues. “Let they perform the duties against which they draw their salaries. Their interference into the issues related to the sacred cause will never be allowed.”

Over the remarks of Azad that separatists must join mainstream politics, Huriyat (G) maintained, “The present pro-India parties are enough for Delhi; they must concentrate on their own affairs rather than delivering sermons to us.”

Huriyat Conference (M) termed Azad’s statement ‘unfortunate’ and contradictory to reality. The amalgam while claiming that the Pro-Freedom leadership here is united and have a one common cause stated that the leadership represents the aspirations of people in the region at large.

Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) slammed Azad over the statement and said that the fact of the matter is that Azad dislikes the ongoing just struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “If India dislikes the leaders here, let she sideline us and give freedom to the people of the region.”

Malik further stated that at every place across the globe, there are different schools of thought and that if India believes in democratic values; let the referendum be given to the people here so that they could decide their fate. ”India used all tactics of coercion and corruption in Kashmir but could not dilute the sentiment of people and the fact is that since 1947, people want India to leave this country.”

Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah stated that the cause for the freedom of Kashmir is a larger perspective and that Azad’s statement must not be taken seriously. “We have the resolutions of UN and every time the International community retreats that Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. Azad sahib cannot have the say over the issue. He should emphasize on his own work”
