Srinagar: Doctors Association of Kashmir Thursday said it was shocking that Chest Disease (CD) hospital Srinagar had no electricity for past two days with the result patients faced huge inconvenience.
In a press statement , DAK president Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan said that CD hospital Srinagar during winter months receives huge number of chronic obstructive lung disease patients requiring oxygen as life saving treatment. Without electricity oxygen is not delivered to these patients putting precious lives to risk. This forced attendants and patients to stage massive protests in the campus of CD Hospital who had come to receive specialized care from peripheral Hospitals, he said.
He said that it is pathetic that CD Hospital has no genset available and during power cuts, patients are left to mercy of Almighty. This is a criminal negligence on part of authorities. The peripheral hospitals are worst hit with frequent power cuts adding to the miseries of patients, Dr Nisar-ul-Hasan said.
He further said that the snow preparedness of the Government is hoax as there is no connectivity during snowfall with the result patients cannot reach to hospitals. Even hospital staff cannot reach their duties due to road blocks. The Patients suffer because of lack of basic facilities, he said adding that the politicians are insensitive to this grave human issue.
