Geelani Prevented From Visiting Tral

SRINAGAR: Authorities on Thursday again placed the senior Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani under house arrest preventing him from visiting Tral.

Syed Ali Geelani was scheduled to visit Tral on Friday as part of his mass contact program.

In a statement Geelani led Hurriyat said that authorities have practically banned “public contact” program of pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani, and in the latest move he was again put under house arrest to thwart his Tral visit scheduled on Friday, November 29.

“A large contingent of police laid a siege around his residence early in morning and informed that he cannot, move nor can address the scheduled public gathering at Tral. Hurriyat strongly condemns the move and announces that it will hold the public rallies at Kulgam, Bandipora and Srinagar on scheduled dates as announced earlier,” the statement said.
