SRINAGAR: A teenaged son of a temple employee from Dehradun in Uttarakhand allegedly committed suicide in Srinagar.

A police spokesman said 14-year-old Arjun Singh had consumed some poisonous substance at his residence in Hanuman Mandir on the bank of Jehlum river near here.

However, his father, Ashok Singh, who is working as helper in the temple, took him to SMHS hospital where he died.

It was not immediately known why he took this extreme step, they said, adding police have registered a case and initiated proceedings.
