BSc Nursing students demand postponement of examination

Srinagar: Scores of female students pursuing BSc Nursing courses through Directorate of Medical Education SKIMS Friday staged protest seeking postponement of their examination.

The protestors said that SKIMS authorities have decided to conduct the exams in November and for this purpose the they have already published date sheets.

“SKIMS officials are making us a scapegoat. To save funds, the officials want us to appear in examination before due date. The practice in the past is that exams are being conducted in January or February but this time due to reasons known to them, Director SKIMS want to appear us in Novemeber which is injustice towards us,” one of the students told with B.Ed students pursuing course through distance mode,” said a student, Nazia Akhtar.

The female students told CNS that candidates are yet to complete their syllabus while SKIMS authorities are taking them for a ride playing with their careers. They said if exams will not be postponed, they would come on roads.

When contacted Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-u-Din told CNS that he is not having any knowledge about it. “Let me talk to Director SKIMS and I will find out what the matter is all about,” he said.

Director SKIMS, Dr Showkat Zargar told CNS that the students are already late by five months. “Their examination was due before 5 months and now we have decided to hold it next month,” Zargar said.
