Srinagar: Expressing concern over the tension on the LOC and in Keran sector, Chairman Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that the Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) of both India and Pakistan should take stock of the situation and do their utmost to end tensions on the LOC.
In a statement issued today, Mirwaiz said that both the countries should show political maturity and prudence at this critical juncture and refrain from any conflict. He said the current situation would not allow stability and progress to return in this region until Kashmir issue is resolved.
Mirwaiz further expressed concern over sufferings of people living in Keran due to the alleged encounter. Taking pretext of searching for rebels in the dense forests, Keran was cut off from the valley and the entire populations is subjected to innumerable hardships and sufferings.
Meanwhile, addressing a gathering at Masjid Abu Bakar Sidiq (RA), Sagaripora, Srinagar, Mirwaiz said instead of being mute spectators, people should eradicate social evlls from the society. He further mentioned that immorality is the main reason for distancing people from their religion. Mirwaiz also urged the parents, Ulemas, Imams and erudite of the state to play their role in this regard.
