BUDGAM: The District Development Commissioner Budgam convened a meeting of officer here today and reviewed the arrangements being made for ensuing Muharram processions in the district. The Muharram would commence from November 07, 2013.
Representatives from Shia organisations including Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiayan (Darul Mustafa), Anjuman Sharie Shaiayan (Shariatabad), Shia Association (Darul Jawad) and Anjuman-e-Itihadul Muslimeen were present in the meeting besides concerned officers of district administration.
On the demands of local Shia community various facilities to be available during Muharram were discussed like provision of drinking water, firewood, upgradation of procession routes at several places and availability of medical facilities.
Chief Medical Officer was directed to activate the mobile vans in the ensuing Islamic month along with the availability of first aid in notified places, especially Imambargahs across the district.
There are 184 Imambargahs across district Budgam and directions were given to PDD for un-interrupted power supply during Muharram days.
A team of 04 officers would be deputed to survey various villages to assess the needs and demands of people on Muharram days.
Directions were given to Municipal Committees of all 6 Tehsils to ensure proper sanitation and install litter bins around Imambargahs.
