Militants Escape Police Dragnet In Soura


High Alert Sounded 

SRINAAR: Militants on Wednesday evening gave slip to a joint party of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Police and CRPF after engaging them in a brief gun-battle at Ahmed Nagar area of Srinagar district. Eight cops, including a Sub-Inspector of Police were injured during the operation, police said. Following the incident, security was beefed up in Srinagar city.

A Police official said that acting on specific information regarding the presence of some militants, SOG of police and CRPF cordoned off several houses and started searches Wednesday evening. The militants, who the forces believe were two in number, fired upon the them triggering a gunfight. However, the militants managed to flee from the spot after fierce but brief encounter.

During the initial gunfight eight cops including a SI and PSO, Ashiq Hussain of SDPO Srinagar sustained bullet injuries. “He has been hospitalized,” official said, adding that the militants managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness.

Meanwhile, security has been put on high alert across Srinagar city after militant escape from Ahmed Nagar.

Official sources said that security forces have increased checking at different entry points to Srinagar City following Ahmed Nagar incident.

Meanwhile KNS quoting a little known militant outfit  “Al-Shuhda Brigade” said the leaders of Alnasreen, Farzandani Milat and Al-Shuhda Brigade were busy in a meeting at Ahmad Nagar when police raid took place.
