SRINAGAR: A fire broke out in a school building at Gogji Bagh area of Srinagar Thursday morning, destroying goods and upper storey of the school building. However, no one was injured in the blaze, reports said.
According to reports the fire started at around 10.30 am Thursday in Oasis Public School when students were preparing for their examination. Flames came out from the top storey, said a source in School, adding that nobody was hurt in the incident.
According to official of the Fire and Emergency Services Department, the students and staff of the school were evacuated to safety after which the crew doused the flames. Three fire tenders managed to bring fire under control and there was no injury reported from the incident, the official said, adding We are ascertaining the cause of fire.
Meanwhile, many parents while complaining said various schools are operating from dingy and dilapidated accommodations which pose threat to the lives of their children.
Schools should adapt maximum safety measures while building a school to avoid any mishap, parents said.
