SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a general strike in Jammu and Kashmir today after clashes in Kishtwar town on Friday.
“We appeal to people of the state to observe a general strike on Saturday against the biased approach of the state administration in dealing with the situation in Kishtwar,” said a top aide of Geelani, Ayaz Akbar.
Accusing government backed VDC’s for leting loose a reign of terror in Kishtwar and adjoining areas, Akbar said the situation in the town was extremely “grave”.
“The future course of action will be decided tomorrow after reviewing the situation in the affected areas,” he added.
