Urges Facebook users to upload slogans demanding freedom
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Monday appealed for peaceful demonstration after Friday prayers against alleged desecration of Holy Quran, fresh arrest spree and asked people to observe July 26 as Unity day between Muslim population of Jammu and Kashmir provinces and in memory of Gool Ramban martyrs.
In a statement while urging Facebook users to upload slogans conveying the world that people of Jammu & Kashmir provinces are up and they demand nothing less than freedom. Indian policy makers are making efforts to portray that movement is confined to valley and Muslim population of Jammu province are indifferent to freedom movement. These forces are hell-bent to create differences and wedge between the Muslim communities of two regions. The Muslim population in Jammu region are at the mercy of Village Defence Committees, communal elements and Indian occupant forces, he alleged.
Repressive treatment unleashed by administration has made their life hell, he said. While commenting the recent Gool episode the Hurriyat (G) chairman said that kind of reaction after Gool tragedy has proved that spirit and passion of the people of Jammu towards Islam and freedom are not declined and added they will not opt for separate path and will stand with their brethren in valley when time for resolution of issue will be provided. Referring to history he said that in 1947 when Muslims in Jammu were brutally massacred, the then leadership remained quiet. They are integral part of our body and however, now is the time we in no case will remain silent and we cannot leave them alone at any cost, he said.
While laying stress to observe 26th July as Unity Day with Muslim population in Jammu, Geelani said that it would help to show solidarity and foster brotherhood relation between Muslim communities of two region and added the same day people in entire valley will protest against the desecration of Holy Quran and Gool massacre.

He expressed his grief and extended heartfelt sympathy with those people injured in recent firing and urged immediate release of all those arrested. While unleashing reign of terror against the people of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has even surpassed record of both of his father and grandfather and his police has created record and left behind the terror of Qadir Ganderbal of past regime, he alleged.
