Srinagar : Kashmir Bar Association while condemning the arrest of Human Rights Activist and noted lawyer, Parvez Imroz Tuesday claimed that the police officer who misbehaved with the lawyer belongs to National Conference.
Imroz was arrested by police after he allegedly tore the uniform of Dy SP Traffic, Reyaz Ahmed Halwai near exhibition crossing. Coalition of Civil Society however refuted the charges of Halwai that Imroz assaulted him. It was the police officer who hurled abuses and foul language and directed police station Sher Gari to arrest the noted lawyer, CCS said.
Eyewitness told CNS that Imroz was taken to custody soon after Halwai complained that Imroz assaulted him when he stopped his vehicle.
A police official said that an FIR vide 353/2013 was registered against the Imroz for assaulting a government official on duty. A case was registered against him, however he was released late on, he said.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Bar Association while condemning the assault and detention of Parvez Imroz said that the Bar shall file a complaint for physical assault and illegal arrest of Parvaiz Imroze against the said delinquent official who happens to be son of slain National Conference worker Mohammad Yousuf Halwai.
