SRINAGAR: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) president Er Rasheed Wednesday said that political parties of Kashmir failed to represent the aspirations of people before the Prime Minister of India.
Omar Abdullah humiliated the whole nation by talking that Jammu and Kashmir relies completely on Centre while Peoples Democratic Party evaded meeting with the Prime Minister to save their skin.
If Mehbooba Mufti would have met PM, people would have asked her what response she got from the PM on the letter written by her father seeking the mortal remains of Mohammad Afzal Guroo back to Valley, he said during a press conference in Srinagar.
He said that Kashmir was turned into a jail in the wake of Prime Ministers visit and even members and the ministers were humiliated in the name of security. Go and find out what happened in Banihal and how honble members and ministers of the state were herded like cattle. I feel sorry for them but they deserve it as they have lost their self-respect, Er Rasheed said.
I was shocked to learn from PM that Kashmir is an Island of India. I must tell PM that it is not an Island but a prison. Whole population was forced to stay indoors during PMs visit and even I was put under house arrest, he said.
MLA Langate said that every time political parties of Kashmir advise Hurriyat to participate in polls and show their representative character, I ask these parties that if Er Rasheed has shown his worth and has been chosen by people then why and how the State Government frequently restrict his movement and put him under house arrest. Rasheed said that first he was informed by the Government that he could meet PM if he wishes and then suddenly I was put under house arrest. I fail to understand why a public representative was put under house arrest. Was the Government so scared of me and thought that if I would talk about the resolution of Kashmir issue they would get embarrassed, he said adding that neither NC nor PDP talked about the Kashmir issue before the PM of India.
Rasheed further said that it was shocking to hear from the Chief Minister of the State that Kashmir relies completely on Centre. Omar Abdullah insulted the people of the State. Instead of begging before the Centre, he should have acted as a firebrand spokesman and sought all the power projects back. I must say that both PDP and NC failed to represent the aspirations of people and didnt even talk about autonomy or Self-Rule though both these formulae cant resolve the Kashmir issue once for all, he said.
