Srinagar, June 14: Calling National Conference a business house rather than a political party, senior VP of Awami National Conference Muzafar Ahmed Shah Friday said the real NC breathed its last the day Sheikh Abdullah passed away.
I want to be a part of the real NC and not todays NC. Real NC never takes dictation from Saif-u-Din Soz or New Delhi, said Shah adding, Omar Abdullah has failed as he lacks strategy to deal with the separatists except restricting their movement.
Shah said he acted as the driver of NC founder for eighteen years and it is absolutely absurd to claim that Omar Abdullah possess the qualities of my grandfather.
Real National Conference never sought alms from New Delhi. It is irony that State Congress Chief is dictating terms to NC these days. The NC that exists today is subservient to Congress and New Delhi. It is more of a business house than a political party, said Shah.
He said it was absolutely shameful that separatist leaders especially Syed Ali Geelani was being placed under continuous house-arrest. NC should learn to fight with its opponents politically. This party should realise that it will get nothing by restricting the movement of an octogenarian leader, he said.
Pitching for the unity of all political parties, Shah said India and Pakistan can do nothing until and unless mainstream and separatist groups joined hands. It is shocking that separatist leaders are forming one-man parties. How can Kashmiris unite if the leaders will continue to float new parties every other day? We must join hands for the sake of Kashmiri people who have been suffering from decades now, he said adding that NC and PDP should stop harping Autonomy and Self-Rule at least during the elections days.
NC forgets Autonomy once the elections are over. Same is the case with PDP. All the formulae are irrelevant until they get a nod from the people, he said.
