Srinagar The Jammu and Kashmir Youth Services and Sports will host two national mega events this year, officials today said.
They said both the mega sporting tourneys will be played between U/14 school players under the aegis of SGFI. The said that the School Games Federation Of India (SGFI), the prime agency for conducting School Nationals in varied sports disciplines throughout the country has assigned conduct of two important events to J&K Youth Services and Sports department this year. The decision in this regard was recently taken in a high level meet of SGFI at Pune.
the Director General, Youth Service and Sports, Navin Agarwal, while providing details in this regard said that in SGFI meet, it was decided that J&K Youth Services & Sports Department will hold Nationals in two major games this year of Cricket and Volleyball. “Cricket is a very famous game throughout the country and countless tournaments of this game are being conducted in the state of J&K every year, so it will be a great opportunity for budding cricketers in J&K to participate and witness National level events in which school children from all parts of India will be present,” the DG said.
he said that the cricket tournament will be conducted in the month of October while volleyball sporting event which will be conducted among both girls and boys will be kicked off in the month of Nov this year.
