SRINAGAR: Terming 21st May as the blackest day in the history of Jammu of Kashmir, the Chairman of moderate All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that the unparalleled sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination would not be allowed to go waste.
Addressing Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz maintained that on the martyrdom anniversary of Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, the Kashmiris would reaffirm their resolve to take the ongoing movement to its logical end.
Mirwaiz while mentioning the names of those 75 martyrs who lost their lives on that fateful day, said that the main aim to observe Hafta-e-Shohada wa to remind people of Kashmir that the sacrifices made by people martyrs will not go waste.
Urging upon people to observe complete shutdown and march towards Eidgah in Srinagar on May 21 to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent resistance leaders, as well as the martyrs of Hawal, Mirwaiz said that the freedom movement will be taken to its logical conclusion.
He said on 21st May a resolution would be passed for return of mortal remains of Kashmiri martyrs, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Mohammad Afzal Guru, who after hanging were buried in New Delhis Tihar jail. We wont let sacrifices of martyrs go in vain. I appeal people to march towards Eidgah to pass a resolution for return of the mortal remains of Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru, he said.
He said that Kashmir is the history of broken promises. At the time of partition Kashmir issue was supposed to be resolved under two nation theory proposed by Qaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and that time Mirwaiz Yousuf not only supported his view but also passed a resolution in favour of it in one of the important meetings of Muslim Conference, he said adding that even a layman is well aware of the history and everyone can tell you with authority that the first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru not only backtracked from his promises but at present Indian government is taking common Kashmiri people for ride for petty interests.
Reiterating his demand for troop withdrawal from Kashmir, Mirwaiz said that All Parties Hurriyat Conference would fully cooperate and support India and Pakistan if both the countries take meaningful measures to settle Kashmir issue.
